The Europapark in Klagenfurt is THE recreational area of the municipality Klagenfurt am Wörthersee in Carinthia. With a size of around 22 hectares, it is one of the largest parks in Austria and a popular destination for the city’s guests and visitors. With its many meadows, shady places and a pond this green oasis in the immediate vicinity of Lake Wörthersee invites you for a relaxed stroll.
The park’s highlight is the newly designed and huge playground. There is a separate segment for every age – a sand-mud zone for the little ones, as well as a slackline and skill park. The playground is completed by swings, climbing equipment, a beach volleyball court and a skate park. Children won’t get bored in this family paradise. For parents, grandparents and escorts, cozy benches are set up around the playground in the shade of large trees. Those who appreciate tranquility more than action and physical activity also have the opportunity to spend their free time. The large outdoor chess facility is a magnet for people who prefer “spiritual sports”. Around the well-kept and for the most part covered chess-area there are tables and benches for card players.
This area of the Europapark in Klagenfurt was originally a wetland. After the Second World War, the area was drained and opened in 1965 as a park. Today, it is is characterized by numerous large stone sculptures. They are the work of international artists living in the state of Carinthia.
