Every year in summer the festival attracts hundreds of thousands of people to the open-air cinema in front of the city hall. The festival last for more than 60 days. Great food and free children’s program at Film Festival Vienna
There are many food stalls that offer various delicacies. Try out something new and have a taste of dishes and specialities from different countries. Every Friday starting at 5pm a special video wall shows famous opera films and children’s music productions. These are for children from 6 to 14 years. The program ranges from Wagner’s Nibelungenring for children to Mozart’s Magic Flute or Cinderella. As is the case for the main event, admission to the Children’s Opera Festival is also free.
Live music at the film festival
In addition to the cinematic performance of predominantly classical productions, live music is also part of the program in the afternoons on weekends. Last year’s highlights were performances by international pop acts like Norah Jones, Alicia Keys and Jamiroquai. On Saturdays various Austrian artists perform in the right or left half of the park in front of the city hall. In the case of bad weather, the performances relocate to the pavilions.On Sundays jazz artists play on the Genusspfad, where the culinary highlights of the festival await you. There are also several side events like after work happy hours with DJs and more.
