The state gallery Burgenland is a free of charge venue for contemporary and modern art in all varieties: Visual arts, sculptures, installations and media art. Changing exhibitions – shows by individual artists, theme exhibitions and exhibitions in cooperation with other houses – contribute to the gallery’s diversity. In a gallery area exhibitions are curated twice a year with exhibits from the extensive collections of the state Burgenland. Complemented by contemporary works, these represent the Burgenland’s art scene and the state itself in a multifaceted way. In addition, a permanent exhibition tells a condensed art history of the state of Burgenland. The state gallery Burgenland understands itself a platform for artists as well as for an art-interested audience. As stated in the goals it takes on one of the most fundamental tasks: Art should change perspectives and make one think.

The state gallery Burgenland offers great programs for children

The Landesgalerie Burgenland is also a fantastic place to take your children. As a special the little ones can celebrate birthday parties with their friends in the gallery. As part of the program they can paint on a canvas using a brush and a palette. That way, the kids can paint their own picture and become artists themselves. Of course every guest is allowed to take their own picture home with them. Painting also makes you hungry. That’s why children can make self-made pizza afterwards and eat it in the gallery!
