History of the HAD

The foundation of the House of Architecture in Graz took place in 1988. This was during a particularly productive phase of Styrian architecture. Especially in residential construction, but also in the public and private sector there was a large number of high-quality and often sensational projects. This development was supported by architects and committed people from politics and administrations. Thus, the House of Architecture was conceived as a platform for the main institutions involved in architecture. Various institutions like the Chamber of Civil Engineers for Styria or the Graz University of Technology have therefore been the representatives of the House and the Executive Board since then.
