The Olympic Park in Munich it a generously designed park with numerous sights, such as the Munich Olympiaturm and the Munich Olympic Walk Of Stars. At least as famous as the tower is the unique Olympic roof, a tent roof structure spans large parts of the Olympic Stadium, the Olympic swimming hall and the Olympic Hall.
After exiting the subway station Olympiazentrum, you will find yourself standing in front of a rather futuristic building, the BMW World Munich. You defenitely should check this place out, as it’s free and introduces you to the history and future of one of Germany’s biggest car makers. Walking past this impressive building you will arrive at Sea Life Munich, which impressively brings the underwater world from the Alps to the Black Sea to its visitors. Entrance is subject to a fee, though. Next, you can visit the Olympic Lake and use the opportunity to take some pictures of the 291 meter high Olympic Tower. Right on the shores of the lake there is also the “Olympic Olympic Walk of Stars”. Built in 2003, many famous people have immortalized themselves here.
Between the Olympic Hall and the Olympic swimming pool, the path leads to Coubertinplatz, named after Baron Pierre de Coubertin. From here you get a great view at the legendary tent roof. It spans parts of the Olympic Stadium, as well as the indoor swimming pool and the Olympic Hall. If you want, you can cross the roof of the stadium as part of a guided tent-roof tour.
Another place you should visit is the Olympic Mountain. From the 50-meter-high summit of this wartime rubble mountain you will enjoy a magnificent view of the entire Olympic area. In good weahter conditions you can also see the Alps from here. In the south you can spot the towers of the Frauenkirche in the city center. From the summit it’s not far to the so called Olympia-Alm. The terrace of this restaurant is a good place to enjoy some snacks.
