Rehberg castle ruin – literally “deer mountain” – is a small stronghold. However, it can still be fun for young adventurers and access to the fortress is free. The castle is mentioned in 1143 for the first time. The lower part and the church area are open all year round. The stronghold is locked but you can borrow the key  from the Cultural Administration Krems (phone +4302732 / 801-571). The municipalit restored the whole structure and preserves it very well. You can explore it without any concerns for safety. There is a small path from the ruin leading to the forest behind it. It is a great place for children. Here they can watch different forrest animals (like the mentioned deer), look for mushrooms and explore where are all footpaths lead to.
